Paper Wreath

With money being tight I have really been looking into finding ways to decorate our house without blowing the budget. I find things at the DI that just need to be revamped or I hit up the local garage sales over the weekends. It's so much fun when you find someone else's junk that you know you can turn into something fabulous! Or least presentable.

My sister-in-law, Chelsea made the cutest paper wreath a while ago and I have been wanting to make one myself. I just didn't know how. Well, I finally found one on someones blog that was so cute. I just loved it. So I decided I would give it a try. I found this wreath at a garage sale for 25 cents! It's not the best type of wreath to use for this kind of project, but I wasn't about to complain after how much I spent on it!

It was actually pretty easy to make. I took a book and ripped some pages out and then I ripped those pages in half.

Then I took a battery, stuck it in the middle of the page and wrapped the paper around it.

Then I slid the battery out and smashed the bottom on the table to give me a flat surface. Then I put a dot of hot glue on it and stuck it on the wreath.

You don't have to use a battery, you can also use your finger, but the battery was easier for me. In order to hang it, I cut a strip of burlap and wrapped it around a section of the wreath. Then I overlapped the edges and hot glued them together. I wanted it short so that I could loop any color of ribbon I wanted through it. Sorry, I didn't get a picture of that. But in this picture of it on my door, you can kind of see that I looped some twine through it.

I used the "M" from a previous Easter wreath and tied it with some ribbon. I think it turned out pretty cute. It took me about 1 1/2 movies to finish the whole thing!

Getting My Craft On

Lately I've been trying to imitate some amazing crafts I've seen on other blogs. Some things have turned out, and others still need a little help. This is one craft that I have done lately that is of my own design. I just got bored looking at this spice rack. It's cute, but I felt like it needed a little something!

So I went to the store and bought some mustard yellow paint. I sanded it down as best as I could. It was a little annoying with all the circles and corners. Then I added a couple coats of the paint.

I still felt it needed something, so I went to Hobby Lobby and bought the cutest door handle. I centered on top and screwed it in!

I love it sitting on my counter now! I think it turned out pretty cute!

Sorry, those aren't the best pictures ever. I think it's obvious I'm no professional. Now I would love to do something to that knife block, if only Cameron would let me!

Michael Updates

He loves stuffed animals!

Yum! French Fries!

Nap time!

He has taken a liking to bottles lately!

Michael's First Christmas

It was Michael's first Christmas! He just started rolling a couple weeks ago. One day while I was wrapping presents, I got up and went into the kitchen, when I came back he had rolled over to the tree and had opened one of my presents! He did it again a few days later with one of Cameron's! I guess he got the gist of Christmas and just wanted to get on with it!

Our second Christmas tree since we got married!

This was an 'on' year for the Mott's. We spent Christmas Eve there. Christmas morning we woke up to a room full of presents.

Michael loves the teddy bear he got.

Merry Christmas!

Michael's Blessing

It looks like it's time to play catch up and write about things that have happened over the past few months.

Michael C. Mott was blessed on November 7, 2010. It was a beautiful blessing. We had our families there. It was a great experience to have Cameron bless his first child. The spirit was so strong and I am grateful that Cam is a worthy priesthood holder. It was kind of funny though, because Michael was asleep up until they took him to the front and he woke up screaming! I could barely hear Cameron over the crying and yelling! I figured something like that would happen!

After the blessing we all went over to our apartment to have soup and rolls. I don't know how, but we got 27 people in our tiny apartment!

I always got a kick out of this one!

Amber and Chelsea helped take some cute photos of him.

I love that big bottom lip!

Cameron is the best at making him laugh!

The pictures with my parents and grandparents holding Michael are on another camera. I'll have to find them.

We are grateful that we have so many family members living so close. We were happy to have everyone over to share this experience with us.

Cam's New Hobby

So Cameron, being the computer savvy guy that he is, decided to start building computers and then sell them online. He has been having a lot of fun with it. I don't understand anything he tells me about them. When he talks to me about them, all I hear is gigabyte this and hard drive that and even though he has explained these things to me a million times, I'm still clueless!

This was the first one he built. I love the blue fans!

I loved that you could see inside it.

This is the second one he built. It also has the cool blue lights.

This is the inside of it.

It looks like this one will sell tomorrow! Yeah! Cameron had a lot of people interested in it and he might end up custom building some. Cameron has been having a lot of fun with this. And I don't mind that he has a hobby that can bring in a little extra money!

Michael C. Mott

I have quite a bit of catching up to do. We didn't do a whole lot during my last trimester, so we'll just jump to the day Michael was born!

We got to the hospital at 11:00 p.m. on August 10th. Cameron went the speed limit the whole way there. Ugg! I had to wait in a room while they monitered the contractions for about 4 hours. Even though Cameron did a great job at helping me get through them, I was very grateful when they gave me the epidural! I was able to take a little nap after that! We had to wait for quite a while before Michael was ready to come out, but it was worth it!

Michael was born on August 11, 2010 at 3:22p.m. He weighed 7lbs 15oz and was 20 inches long! He was a beautiful baby!

Me and Cameron with Michael!

He was so little!

Cameron and I were both really tired!

Isn't he adorable! (Thanks Chelsea for the cute pics you took!)

We stayed at the hospital for 3 days and then got to take him home. It was such an exciting (and scary) feeling driving home with him, knowing that our lives would never be the same. We love him so much and are so grateful he came to us when he did!
